Leave of Absence Credit!

Short film  ‘Leave of Absence’ has been added to the Internet movie database, courtesy of withoutabox.Â
It seems that if you register your film with the intent to pursue festival screenings, the website will present you with a code to go onto the database. Its part of their push to help independent filmmakers become more established. So if you have a short film finished and ready to screen its defiantly worth setting up a film account with www.withoutabox.com
Also check out www.shortfilmdepot.com a great website connecting filmmakers to worldwide short film festivals which don’t usually charge entry fees. These include big festivals like Clermont-Ferranand International Short Film Festival in France and Sapporo International Short Fest in Japan.
No commentsEaster weekend script development!
On the Thursday before bank holiday, we finally received our script notes from Screen WM in regards to new short film, ‘Stained’. The notes came after a lengthly wait, which in retrospect, gave us sometime to really step back from the script and come back into it with fresh eyes.
The notes were constructive but also challenged the current draft’s structure, raising initial concerns from both myself and the writers. However both Screen WM and the UK Film Council have been really supportive of the film and its sensitive subject matter and have really got behind what we are trying to achieve with this film.Â
Taking the notes on board, Colin and Ronnie have again rose to the challenge, and over this Easter weekend have been working tirelessly to address the issues raised by Dan Lawson and myself. With the script now down to 11 pages we have a really tight script and Ronnie and Colin have really created something special.Â
With the script a week away from sign off Tom and myself will start pre production over the next few days hopefully locking off proposed shooting dates and building a talented cast and crew around us to help make this film a real success.
I also had some great response from the storyboard released on a previous blog so I have put up another two along with this blog. The artwork was done by Duncan Groves who is a young artist and film maker currently studying at BCU. To contact him e-mail: duncan.groves@gmail.com

- ‘Stained’ Scene 11
Ben Okri Shoot
On Wednesday 15th April we are set to film our third ‘Fresh’ feature since finishing off  Levi Roots ‘Putting Music in Your Food’ in 2008.Â

Â
We will be heading to London to Random House Publisher’s to film a feature with Booker Prize winner and OBE awarded author Ben Okri. The Nigerian born writer has published over 11 books, with his latest, ‘Tales of Freedom’ currently out now.
We shall be creating  a short feature which will hopefully inspire students too explore writing, giving them a unique insight into the inner workings of Ben Okri and his poetic and visual work. Â
