UTOPIA
The trailer for Utopia is now online!
Utopia is an International Dance experience which sees contemporary dancers forming a brand new dance company collective alongside Russian, Spanish, Indian and African folk dance groups, all moved to the turbo-folk Gypsy and Balkan beats of Birminghamâs very own band The Destroyers.
I directed and vision mixed the live event which took place in Birmingham during the International Dance Festival 2010. Put together by DOP Ed Moore, we had six cameras covering the event along with one crane. Each cameraman shot some superb images and had to put up with me shouting in their ears for two hours, thanks to all!
The full hour event will hopefully be available over the next few months!

Explosions!!!
Last month saw me reunite with Gas & Electric’s Nicholas Bentley as a 1st, on a job for Kerrang TV. Nick’s idea, as always, was ambitious and exciting and saw us blowing up a gaint skull made of household objects… twice.
Shooting took place  over one day and the explosive sequence was shoot at Pinewood with the assistance of SFX Supervisor Andy Mcvean. It was shoot on four cameras including two Phantoms operated by Jason Eberman and is now available to view on Kerrang TV or if you can’t wait right here!

No commentsTractor Fun!!!
Last week I was tearing through a farm at 4am, in a green tractor which I had confiscated to help shoot a sunrise with DoP Ed Moore, as we spent spent six days shooting a corporate video with the crew at Full Range Productions.
The films where shot on Canon 5D by Ed Moore, as we took over Warwick College / farm, shooting a host of talent and vehicles. We had so much fun over the course of the shoot and the crew we’re all incredible. Special hats off to 1st A.D Andy Tea for somehow managing all the childish banta and tractor driving!
The videos are currently in post at Full Range with Steve Cumberland taking on edit duties!

Islamic Relief; Niger Crisis
I recently headed out to Niger in West Africa with Islamic Relief UK, in order to document the current crisis which is affecting the people of this beautiful and peaceful country.
My aim was to document the journey of lecture Abu Eesa and Islamic Relief’s Zaid Al-Rawni, with an aim to create three AID videos which will be played on the Islamic Channel during three separate live appeals, aired during Ramaá¸Än.
The live appeals will be highlighting the three main issues we witnessed during our time in Niger. These will be the current food crisis, the availability of clean, healthy Water and the growing number of Orphans residing throughout the country.

The videos are currently being edited and I hope that I can do the people of Niger proud, in order to help the amazing people we encountered on the field. We really need to keep supporting the IR staff out in Niger doing amazing work for the Country. However for now the awesome Adnan Hafiz filmed some flip blogs which are available to view here… www.islamic-relief.org.uk
You can also read the blog’s written by Abu Eesa during our journey which really get into the heart of our adventure and detail the people we meet, the feelings we shared and the emotions we individual felt during a tough seven days…Â alternativeentertainment.wordpress.com
I will also be heading down to the studio to show my support on the evening and I hope you can take a look to. If your religious or not, I hope you watch the videos and see how such a small amount can do for so many. Please, please watch, feel and donate!!!
Thanks!

Arnold&Barber Update!
So whilst I’ve been away a lot has happened which I’m really happy to share.
First up David Sugar’s video for ‘Party Killer’ which was released earlier this month, featured on the superb promo news. The website is a hub for all the latest music videos and directors currently circulating within the industry at present. You can find some incredible directors and companies on the site and it was a real honor to make it on there. Check out the post here PROMO NEWS
Secondly we can finally reveal that our second promo for Mr Fogg and his latest track ’stung’, taken from his debut album ‘Moving Parts’, has been launched exclusively by NME. We’re happy with the final video which sees Fogg learning the song backwards as we attempt to convey a dark performance where we slowly reveal the build of his alter ego.
Mr Fogg will be playing Reading and Leeds festivals this year so watch this space!

Off to Africa
Next week I’m heading over to Niger in Africa, with Zaid Al-Rawni of Islamic Relief. Our aim is to film and construct a series of films aimed at raising awareness and money for three key projects run by IR. These include projects aiming to improve water and famine, whilst also looking at the rising number of orphans within Niger who have lost parents through aids or Malaria.
I’ll be blogging about the trip when I’m back, so check back after the 28th July. IÂ will also be uploading some of the videos from the trip over the course of 2010.
Whilst I’m away keep checking the Arnold&Barber website too as this week sees the release of our second promo for Mr Fogg’s new single ‘Stung’.
